THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The former Detroit Police 6th Precinct, or McGraw Station, is associated with disembodied voices, footsteps, cold spots, apparitions and other activity reported by paranormal groups investigating the old station and jail areas.
McGraw Station at 6840 McGraw Avenue served as Detroit Police Department’s 6th Precinct and later as a special-crimes and gang-squad headquarters before closing in 2005. Paranormal investigations and later media coverage helped build its haunted reputation, with reports of voices, shouted commands, footsteps on empty floors, cold spots and apparitions. The privately owned building has hosted occasional authorized paranormal tours, but it is not an open-access urbex site and entry should be limited to scheduled events.
