Employees of the former Poleng Lounge reported phantom footsteps, moving objects and an unsettling presence, while a séance inside the nightclub was reportedly accompanied by unexplained flickering lights.
The building at 1751 Fulton Street housed several jazz clubs and restaurants before becoming Poleng Lounge in 2005. Former owner Desi Danganan told Hoodline that employees experienced unexplained activity after closing hours, including footsteps from an apparently empty upstairs office. A bartender reportedly witnessed a broom fly across a room. During a séance held in the lounge, participants attempted to contact several spirits and reported that nearby lights began flickering. Danganan also claimed a pentagram painted for the séance could not later be removed from the floor. Poleng Lounge closed in 2010, but the paranormal stories remain associated with the Fulton Street property.
