THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Francisco Fort Museum preserves artifacts from Colorado's frontier era and has become known for unexplained paranormal activity. Visitors have reported apparitions, mysterious footsteps, shadow figures, and unusual noises within the historic buildings. Staff members also describe an unseen presence after closing.
The Francisco Fort Museum is an 1862 adobe plaza complete with a saloon, a school, a blacksmith shop and many relics from Native Americans, settlers, farmers, ranchers and miners. Some say it has a ghostly floating lady in white in its west wing, a haunted piano that plays music by itself, flickering lights, another apparition who carries a candle, and a rocking chair rocks that rocks by itself.
