THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Since opening in 1927, the Gage Hotel has accumulated stories of lingering spirits believed to be former guests and employees. Reports include apparitions, unexplained footsteps, and mysterious activity in guest rooms and hallways.
Gage Hotel was built in the 1920s by Alfred Gage, who died less than a year after it was finished. The hotel is believed to be haunted by Mr. Gage himself. Witnesses have described apparitions on the front porch, in the patio gardens or in the hallways, and Room 10 is said to be especially active. Music, a woman’s voice reading poetry, and taps on the shoulder have been experienced by guests there.
