Reported Haunting
The Grand Midway Hotel has become known for extensive reports of paranormal activity throughout its themed rooms and hallways. Residents and visitors have described apparitions, shadow figures, unexplained voices, moving objects, and unusual dreams. Paranormal investigators have also reported electronic voice phenomena and other unexplained occurrences inside the historic hotel.
This historic hotel has been in operation for over a century, but is now believed to be a private residence. The owners have been known to auction the rooms for a night, which is enough for some guests to leave the hotel in fear. Staff have reported a wild apparition known to through chairs, push people around and smash bottles. The apparition is believe to be a man who died in a barfight over a century ago. The apparition of a young woman with curly hair has been seen wandering through the hotel and has been known to speak to guests and staff. She is believed to a prostitute who was walled up on the second floor and left to die. The most haunted room is Room #003, where the statue of a nun has been known to move around of its own accord. It has even been known to appear in people’s dreams and talk to them. The other most haunted place to stay is the ‘Canopy Room’, where a defiant female spirit and cold spots have been observed. The final apparition reported is known as the ‘Professor’, who has been seen reading quietly in an office on the second floor.
