THE STORY
Reported Haunting
San Francisco's historic Chinatown theater is associated with apparitions, unexplained physical contact and a mysterious woman in white reportedly encountered in the women's restroom.
Opened in 1925 as the Great China Theater, the Great Star is one of San Francisco Chinatown's surviving historic theaters. Paranormal investigators from The Haunted Bay documented repeated experiences inside the building. Producer Ying Liu reported sensing and later envisioning a long-haired Asian woman dressed in white in the women's restroom, while investigators and audience members described additional unexplained experiences. Liu later said unusual activity apparently continued around members of the production even after their original investigation. The San Francisco Chronicle and Bay City News have both covered the theater's paranormal reputation.
