THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Hotel Indigo occupies the historic Martha Washington Hotel, which has long been associated with reports of ghostly activity. Guests have reported apparitions, phantom footsteps, unexplained voices, and objects moving without explanation throughout the building. The hotel remains one of St. Petersburg's best-known haunted landmarks.
This hotel dates back to 1926, but has had several names – “Martha Washington Hotel,” “Heritage Hotel,” and now, most recently, “Hotel Indigo”. A 1987 renovation seems to have led to the appearance of a ghostly little girl, seen on the third-floor landing. Later, the figures of an older man and a woman in a wheelchair were seen in the lobby.
