THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The John F. Craig House is said to be haunted by former owner John Fullerton Craig, who died in 1926 and is reportedly still encountered within the historic home. Guests and visitors have described unexplained activity and the sensation of unseen residents, contributing to the house's place in Cape May's extensive ghost lore.

Although this bed-and-breakfast is reportedly no longer open for business, folks who have been employed here or stayed here in the past have said that rooms 4 and 5 are haunted by two spirits. Room 4, known as the Susan Craig Room, was said to be haunted by the spirit of a little girl, unknown, who had red hair. Room 5, the Lucy Johnson Room, was haunted by Lucy herself. Interestingly enough, Lucy was said to be a very helpful ghost who was known to sew missing buttons back onto the garments of guests who stayed in the room.
