THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The historic Johnson House Inn is associated with reports of apparitions, unexplained footsteps, and strange encounters believed to involve former residents.

The 1910 residence of a former ‘hanging’ judge and his wife is rumoured to be haunted. Now a bed and breakfast inn, inexplicable occurrences have taken place over the years, such as disembodied footsteps, a woman’s voice and a rocking chair that rocks by itself. A one-time housekeeper swore she saw a woman in an old-fashioned dress enter a guest bedroom, but when she entered, it was completely empty. It has been speculated that this was Mrs Johnson, wife of the judge who built the mansion.
