THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Kline Opera House is associated with reports of paranormal activity experienced by performers and visitors. Witnesses have described phantom footsteps, shadow figures, unexplained voices, and strange sounds coming from the stage after hours. The historic theater has become one of Ohio's lesser-known haunted performance venues.
This historic opera house was formerly the town church, built in the mid nineteenth century and the first in the surrounding county. The ghostly events surrounding the opera house began in the 1980’s, when staff closing up the opera house for the night began to hear loud crashing noises and disembodied footsteps in the empty building. The opera house is also believed to be haunted by a former owner, who has been known to speak to theatre patrons in deep voices, and a female spectre, who has been known to sing arias during piano recitals.
