Lake Shawnee Amusement Park occupies the site of both a failed amusement park and an earlier frontier settlement associated with violent conflict. Visitors have reported ghostly children, mysterious laughter, shadow figures, and unexplained activity throughout the abandoned rides. It is widely regarded as one of West Virginia's most haunted locations.
