THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Visitors to the historic Laurel Valley Plantation Store have reported what appears to be a ghost inside the building, adding paranormal lore to the preserved sugar-plantation complex.
Laurel Valley preserves a large historic Louisiana sugar-plantation complex, including former workers' quarters and a general store that now functions as a public museum and visitor site. A Nicholls State University feature quotes local historian Paul Leslie as saying that some people have seen what appears to be a ghost inside the store. The same account notes that a person was killed there during the period when the store also operated as a bar. This entry pins the identifiable public store and museum rather than the broader plantation property.
