THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Leeds Castle in Kent, England, is famously haunted by a spectral black dog whose appearance brings bad luck or forewarns of an impending death. The ghostly phantom, often seen passing seamlessly through solid castle walls, is widely believed to be a lingering manifestation linked to the witchcraft and imprisonment of Eleanor Cobham, Duchess of Gloucester. Visitors and staff also report seeing the wraiths of historical royal women gliding down the quiet corridors, including a woman in the Queen's Room seen silently brushing her hair.
The ghost of a black dog is seen here, being associated as a bad omen for the family who lived here. The Duchess of Gloucester, who was once imprisoned here, and a woman with long, flowing hair have also been seen here.
