THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Built in the 1840s, this historic tavern is said to be haunted by former patrons and employees. Visitors have reported unexplained noises, shadowy figures, and eerie late-night activity.

The old tavern building was built in the 1840s, and was a cabinet shop in its early years. There are remnants of its older days as a tavern, such as a half-log bar in the basement as well as a 1930s keg. But locals here say that’s not all that remains here from times past! They say the apparition of a former bartender, who hanged himself in the bar and was buried in the cemetery at the church next door, appears in the restaurant in the late-night hours. He has been known to toss pans and touch patrons, produce cold spots and move objects. Folks say he is not a mean ghost, but likes to play tricks.
