THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Malemute Saloon in Ester, Alaska—steeped in Gold Rush lore—carries an eerie, residual atmosphere from its rough mining past. The Spectral Shadow: Staff and visitors report seeing a dark, human-shaped shadow pacing the back corners of the saloon after hours. The Phantom Piano: Echoes of disembodied ragtime music and faint piano keys have been heard when the building is entirely empty and locked up.Poltergeist Disruption: Small objects are known to slide across the bar counter on their own, accompanied by sudden, localized cold spots near the seating areas.

The 1900’s saloon is located in a small gold rush settlement, and partially burnt down in 1969. Nowadays, the saloon and surrounding buildings sit largely empty, apart from a few spirits that linger from the mining days. Visitors have reported seeing shadowy apparitions, have heard disembodied footsteps and have been pushed by unseen hands.
