The Merchant's House Museum preserves one of New York City's finest nineteenth-century family homes and is widely associated with the spirit of Gertrude Tredwell. Visitors have reported apparitions, phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and objects moving on their own. It is considered one of Manhattan's most haunted historic houses.
