Legends surrounding Mesa Falls include reports of a ghostly Shoshone woman appearing near the roaring waterfall after dark.
According to legends told here, the ghost os a Shoshone Indian girl lingers in the Lower Mesa Falls. She died when trying to rescue someone who was caught in the river. Visitors to the area have seen her spirit, dressed in white, in the falls. Phantom drumbeats have also been heard.
