THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Built in 1838, the Michael B. Menard House is one of Galveston's oldest surviving homes and is associated with reports of ghostly figures and unexplained activity. Visitors have described footsteps, voices, and apparitions believed to be connected to the Menard family.

The 1838 historic mansion is the oldest house in town, and may be one of the most haunted. A former owner would hold séances in the house until his death, and supposedly encountered a number of spirits from a bygone era. However, most of the ghosts haunting this place date back to the Great Hurricane of 1900, including a horde of ghostly children playing in the garden and a female spectre both seen and heard sobbing at the foot of the grand staircase.
