Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is associated with reports of paranormal activity connected to its Spanish colonial history. Witnesses have described apparitions, phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and unexplained sounds inside the historic mission. Many believe former clergy and residents still haunt the property.
There have been numerous brutal deaths in the history of this land, including massacres, accidents, and murders. A woman who was decapitated by a Native American tribe is said to be seen looking for her head and her lost baby. The Reed Family was viciously murdered by an axe in 1848; some report seeing members of the family walking around and capable of gliding through walls. Other unidentifiable figures are reported here quite commonly.
