THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The memorial at the crash site of All Nippon Airways Flight 58 has acquired a paranormal reputation involving apparitions, voices and an intense atmosphere, though it remains first and foremost a place of remembrance.
On July 30, 1971, All Nippon Airways Flight 58 collided with a Japan Air Self-Defense Force aircraft over Shizukuishi. All 162 people aboard the airliner died. The principal debris site became a memorial known for decades as Irei no Mori and was renamed Mori no Shizuku Park in 2020. Ghost stories later developed around the site. Visitors should treat the area respectfully as a memorial to real victims.
