THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Mount Lassen Hotel is associated with reports of a former manager whose spirit is said to remain in the building. Witnesses have described his apparition, phantom footsteps, and other unexplained sounds throughout the former hotel. Its history of tragedy has made it one of Susanville's best-known haunted landmarks.
The historic 1926 hotel building and restaurant was the scene of a tragic murder at the turn of the recent century, and a beloved manager passed away. However, it appears that he hasn’t left, as his ghost has been seen on several occasions throughout the establishment. Guests have heard ghostly voices in some rooms, while others claim to have heard disembodied footsteps in the corridor.
