THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Turner Mansion at the Museum of the Southwest is associated with a former resident's spirit, moving objects, footsteps, unexplained knocks, running sounds, disembodied children's voices and the sensation of being watched.
The Museum of the Southwest occupies the historic Turner Mansion in Midland. The house was constructed during the 1930s and later became part of the museum campus. Paranormal tradition says a former resident remains in the upstairs portion of the mansion. Visitors and workers have additionally reported curtains moving without an obvious cause, a rocking chair moving by itself, unexplained footsteps, knocks, running sounds and the sensation of being watched. More recent accounts also describe disembodied children's voices on the grounds.
