THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The National Baseball Hall of Fame has embraced longstanding stories of unexplained activity within its galleries. Reports include shadow figures, footsteps in empty rooms, doors moving by themselves, and unusual experiences near exhibits honoring baseball legends.

Featured on TV’s Ghost Hunters, the baseball museum is believed to be haunted. Witnesses have heard a voice that sounded like baseballer Ted Williams say “persevere, to have courage, to excel and be great.” Other male voices have been heard in the Plaque Gallery. Employees have described a feeling of being watched, as if someone were standing right behind them. Shadow figures, unexplained noises and the sound of the men’s restroom door opening and closing also have been reported. The old baseball artifacts housed here are believed to still be connected to some deceased players, or perhaps even fans, who don’t want to let go of their favorite pastime.
