THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Historic Ness Lutheran Church and Cemetery is rumored to be haunted by the restless spirits of a little girl named Annie and Native Americans tied to the tragic U.S.–Dakota War of 1862. Local folklore claims that full-body apparitions wander the cemetery grounds and that the building's interior lights mysteriously turn themselves on in the middle of the night. Despite persistent internet rumors and problems with trespassing ghost hunters, church preservation board members explicitly emphasize that the property is not haunted.
Legends of ghostly Sioux Indians and a little girl named Annie surround this church. Some say the church lights come on and apparitions can be seen around the grounds.
