Northern State Hospital cared for psychiatric patients in Washington for nearly a century before much of the campus was abandoned. Visitors have reported shadow figures, unexplained voices, phantom footsteps, and unsettling activity throughout the former hospital grounds. Its institutional history has made it one of the Pacific Northwest's best-known haunted locations.
