Guests and employees have reported encounters with the apparition of a Native American man believed to wander the historic inn. Other reports include footsteps, unexplained noises, and mysterious figures seen in hallways.
The apparition of a Native American man has been seen in the Occuquan Inn, built in 1810. Legend has it that the man was enamored of the owner’s wife, and he was shot when the owner caught him sneaking down the stairs one night. His ghost has been seen in the mirror of the ladies’ restroom, but vanishes when the startled lady turns around.
