THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Off Vine Restaurant occupies a historic Hollywood home associated with reports of paranormal activity. Employees and guests have described unexplained footsteps, mysterious voices, shadow figures, and objects moving without explanation after closing. The restaurant has earned a local haunted reputation.
A lovely turn-of-the-century craftsman-style bungalow, built in 1908, it was surrounded by fruit trees and orange groves, off a newly formed country road called Vine Street. Since then it has survived through the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depressions, Hollywood’s Silent and Golden Eras, numerous earthquakes, ambitious land-owners and most recently fire. Once owned by Beryl Wallace, film actress and famed show-girl of the Earl Carroll Follies. The employees of this restaurant claim to have seen the ghosts of Beryl and her mother who both lived here.
