The Old Jefferson County Jail is associated with reports of ghostly apparitions connected to its years as a county jail. Visitors have described phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, shadow figures, and sudden cold spots throughout the building. The former jail remains a favorite stop for paranormal investigators.
The building has been used recently by the Jefferson County Elections Office, and is intended to become a museum in the near future.
