THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Workers inside the historic Old Mint have reported an unseen figure moving a curtain, unexplained banging from empty areas and other apparent activity separate from the staged haunted attraction operating there.

Completed in 1874, the Old San Francisco Mint survived the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire and became known as the Granite Lady. In modern years the building has hosted the Terror Vault immersive haunted attraction, but organizers have described experiences they believe were unrelated to the staged effects. Peaches Christ reported seeing what appeared to be a hand lifting a backstage curtain; when the curtain fell and she investigated, nobody was present. Producer David Flower separately described loud banging directly above him that appeared to originate from an empty section of the courtyard. These experiences were explicitly described by the witnesses as separate from the attraction's theatrical effects.
