THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Old Village Post House, also known as the Guilds Inn, is associated with reports of paranormal activity experienced by guests and staff. Witnesses have described phantom footsteps, shadow figures, mysterious voices, and objects moving without explanation throughout the historic inn. The building has earned a reputation as one of Mount Pleasant's haunted landmarks.
Once the “Guilds Inn” (until around 2004), this is now a restaurant and inn called “Old Village Post House”. It was featured in “Haunted Inns of the Southeast” under its previous incarnation. The book suggested that the ghost of its previous owner, Captain Samuel Guilds, still haunted the place – and that the best time to visit (if you wanted to meet the Captain) was during a full moon. No word on whether or not the current owners continue to experience paranormal activity.
