The Ortega Adobe is associated with reports of paranormal activity dating to California's early rancho era. Visitors have described apparitions, phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and unexplained cold spots inside the historic adobe. Local stories suggest former occupants continue to haunt the property.
The Ortega Chili Company got its start here; some of those who helped to make the company what it is today may still be here. Voices speaking Spanish are heard, disembodied faces are seen through the window, and random cold sensations come out of nowhere.
