THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Panola Hall is famously associated with the ghost of Sylvia, a mysterious woman whose apparition has reportedly been seen throughout the antebellum home. Her identity remains uncertain, but witnesses have described seeing her figure and experiencing other unexplained activity that has made her one of Eatonton's best-known resident ghosts.

Panola Hall is a Greek Revival home that was built in 1854 for Henry Trippe. It is said to have been haunted since the 1870s by the ghost of a girl named Sylvia. She appears as a shy, silent woman with dark hair and a full white skirt, usually in the second-floor hallway or bedroom, on the stairs, or looking out the living room window.
