Reported Haunting
Pembroke Road is associated with ghost stories stemming from the area's historical use as a place of execution. Local lore describes apparitions and unexplained encounters along the road, sometimes attributed to the restless spirits of people who were hanged nearby.
This street used to be used as a gallows. Two of the reported ghosts include that of a phantom dwarf and a beggar named Jenkins Protheroe.
