Pleasant Valley Cemetery is linked to the legend of the Rose family, whose spirits are said to remain near their graves. Visitors have reported ghostly figures, unexplained voices, and strange lights moving through the cemetery at night.
Pleasant Valley Cemetery is haunted by the Rose Family buried here. Legend has it that Ceely Rose murdered her mother, father and brother in 1896 over her love for Guy Berry. Guy lied and told Ceely they couldn’t marry because her family didn’t approve of him rather than tell her the truth: that he just wasn’t interested. So Ceely soaked some arsenic flypaper and sprinkled the water on her family’s food until they died. Guy flew the coop, afraid of what she may do to him if she found out the truth, and Ceely was placed in a mental ward.
