Reported Haunting
Port Gamble's historic Buena Vista Cemetery overlooks the old company town and contains graves of early settlers, mill workers and their families. Local legends associate the burial ground with strange lights, shadowy figures and an eerie sense that former residents still linger nearby.
Buena Vista Cemetery, commonly called Port Gamble Cemetery, is one of the oldest burial grounds in Kitsap County and contains graves dating to the nineteenth-century lumber era. The cemetery sits on a wooded hill overlooking Port Gamble and the bay. As the town developed a broader reputation for paranormal activity, the cemetery became part of its ghost folklore as well. Visitors and local storytellers describe unusual lights, fleeting shapes and a strong sense of presence among the old graves. The cemetery is historically significant and should be visited respectfully.
