The official residence of Japan's prime minister is reportedly haunted by spirits connected to the May 15 Incident of 1932 and the February 26 Incident of 1936. Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi was assassinated during the first incident, while six people were killed in the latter uprising. According to the source, the wife of former prime minister Tsutomu Hata wrote in a 1996 memoir that she had seen spirits dressed in old military uniforms in the residence's garden.
