Witnesses have described phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, shadow figures, and eerie encounters throughout the historic property. The lodge has earned a reputation as a haunted destination.
The historic lodge and hotel was frequented by Al Capone, who had his own room on the upper floor equipped with a ladder for a hasty exit if needed. Guests nowadays staying in the vicinity of the room claim to have heard arguing voices, disembodied footsteps and felt an eerie presence.
