THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, Minnesota, is legendary for a resident spirit nicknamed "Smiling Jack," whose presence is tied to repeated reports of a phantom trapped inside a locked mausoleum. While responding police officers could never find anyone inside, the ghost's moniker was inspired by a smiling, stained-glass portrait of the deceased man found at the back of the crypt. Additionally, local paranormal investigators have documented unexplainable banging noises, disembodied cries for help, and video footage of an angel statue that allegedly moves on its own.

A ghost called Smiling Jack resides at the lovely Roselawn Cemetery. According to local tales, the police got several calls about a person who was trapped inside a mausoleum. When they responded, the police never found anyone, so the locals decided they had a ghost on their hands. He was nicknamed Smiling Jack because in the back of the mausoleum is a stained-glass portrait of the smiling man who was buried there.
