Rotary Park is associated with local legends of ghostly activity, including reports collected by paranormal researchers. Visitors have described apparitions, strange voices, and an eerie atmosphere after dark.
Margie Kay, author of “Haunted Independence,” believes Rotary Park to be haunted. She claims to have seen and/or felt numerous ghostly presences on the grounds – one of which is named “Old George.” The western side of the park is said to harbor some particularly dark entities.
