THE STORY
Reported Haunting
In 1986, the Snedeker family moved into a former funeral home at 208 Meriden Avenue in Southington, Connecticut, while seeking housing closer to medical treatment for their son. The family later reported apparitions, unexplained noises, objects moving on their own, frightening encounters, and what they believed to be a hostile supernatural presence. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren became involved and characterized the activity as demonic. The case inspired the book In a Dark Place and the 2009 film The Haunting in Connecticut. The story remains highly controversial: author Ray Garton later questioned the reliability of the accounts he was given, while skeptics, former residents, and others have disputed that anything paranormal occurred at the property.
Ghost Atlas has a published record for this location, but a full narrative has not yet been added.
