The South Carolina Lunatic Asylum, later known as the South Carolina State Hospital, cared for psychiatric patients for more than a century. Visitors have reported shadow figures, phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and unsettling activity throughout the historic campus. Its institutional history has made it one of South Carolina's most discussed haunted locations.
