In 1927 a wealthy and prominent business man and bootlegger murdered his wife Imogene in broad daylight and in front of a dozen witnesses (including her daughter) in the park’s gazebo. She was on her way to the courthouse to divorce him and apparently, this was too much for the “great” man’s ego to bear. Despite witnesses and indisputable motive, he was acquitted when he pled temporary insanity. Is it any surprise it was a jury of all men? Since then, people claim to see the ghost of the murdered Imogene haunting the gazebo, dressed all in black.
