THE STORY
Reported Haunting
St Bartholomew the Great is associated with several ghost stories accumulated over its centuries of history. Visitors have reported apparitions of monks and other mysterious figures, along with unexplained footsteps and unusual sounds within the ancient church and surrounding cloisters.
A jester named Rahere founded this church after having a vision of St. Batholomew; buried inside of here, the ghost of Rahere (who became a monk later in life) is seen by the altar and by the Lady Chapel.
