THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The former Edo-period execution ground is associated with sightings of figures in traditional clothing and other apparitions around the surviving memorial site.
Suzugamori was one of Edo's principal execution grounds and operated for more than two centuries. The site survives today as a historic and memorial location. Japanese ghost lore describes apparitions dressed in older clothing, particularly after dark. Claims concerning the precise number of people executed here vary widely, so no disputed total is included.
