Reported Haunting
Known locally as the Swords Gate House, Talvande Mansion has developed a reputation for ghostly activity dating back more than a century. Witnesses have reported apparitions, unexplained footsteps, and lights appearing in empty rooms.
This very old house, now a private home, was a boarding school for teenage girls in the 1800s. When one of the girls eloped, damaging the school’s reputation, Headmistress Madame Talvande turned the school into a fortress and watched the girls very closely. It is said that she still lingers there, keeping an eye on things. Her apparition has been seen inspecting the bedrooms every night. Also reported has been the spirit of a cavalier walking from the dining room to the game room. Footsteps also have been heard in the house.
