THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Bridal Chamber at Silver Springs State Park is associated with local ghost legends involving former visitors. Witnesses have reported apparitions, mysterious lights, strange voices, and eerie feelings near the historic structure after dark.
Bernice eventually died of a broken heart, and her body was lowered into the spring as she had requested. When Claire came back and looked for her at the spring, he found only her dead body, which was trapped in the rocks by her necklace. He dove in and tried to free her but drowned in her lifeless arms, and folks say the embracing lovers can still be seen in the spring.
