THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The former San Francisco mortuary has an extensive haunting tradition involving a mysterious little girl, shadow figures, moving objects, disembodied voices and unexplained physical contact.

The Chapel occupies the former Gantner-Maison-Domergue Funeral Home, built on Valencia Street in 1914. Employees and visitors have reported extensive unexplained activity throughout the building. A young girl in a white dress apparently running through the locked venue was recorded by a motion-activated security camera in 2015. Former employees have also described seeing a long-haired girl and shadow figures, hearing unexplained voices and crashing bottles, witnessing objects apparently move by themselves, experiencing doors that slam without an obvious cause and encountering strange smells. A Reddit visitor separately reported feeling someone move the hair beside their ear before hearing a female voice singing directly into the uncovered ear while alone on the mezzanine. All paranormal interpretations remain unverified.
