Reported Haunting
The Gettysburg Hotel is associated with several spirits from the town's Civil War history, including a ghostly nurse commonly called Rachel. Guests have reported apparitions, unexplained sounds, and encounters with figures believed to be soldiers and former occupants of the hotel.
This old hotel, established in 1797, is haunted by Rachel, among other spirits. Rachel is believed to be the spirit of a Civil War nurse who seems to be looking for soldiers to help. Guests say she opens their drawers and removes the clothing from them. Other ghosts who reside here are a wounded soldier and a woman who appears dancing in the ballroom.
