THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Hellfire Caves (West Wycombe Caves) in Buckinghamshire, England, are heavily haunted by the decadent spirits of the 18th-century "Hellfire Club" who engaged in pagan rituals, mock satanism, and wild orgies within the tunnels. The most famous entity is Sukie, a local barmaid who was murdered in the caves as a cruel joke by rejected suitors; her tragic ghost, dressed in a white wedding gown, is frequently seen weeping in the Inner Temple chamber. Visitors and paranormal investigators routinely report intense poltergeist activity, including being touched by invisible hands, hearing disembodied chanting, and encountering a aggressive, dark shadow figure believed to be the club's founder, Sir Francis Dashwood.
A man named Paul Whitehead was once the secretary to the Hellfire Club. After his death in 1774, he wanted his heart to be placed in an urn which was on display until it was stolen. He seen wandering around, supposedly looking for his heart. A ghost of a teenager named Sukie is also seen here, wearing a long, white dress. She was unintentionally stoned to death one night at the result of a prank that backfired.
