The Martinez House is associated with reports of ghostly apparitions and unexplained activity connected to Sacramento's early history. Visitors have described shadow figures, phantom footsteps, and mysterious noises inside the historic home.
The Martinez House was the site of a mass murder committed by a man killed everyone in the house: family all the way down to his grandchildren, house staff, even the cat. When the Martinez family bought the house in 1976, they reported seeing apparitions of an Asian man in a white lab coat, a woman in a flower-print dress, children, and a gray-and-white cat.
